Using the Help Guide

Accessing the Help Guide
This guide is accessible from the Help link on the forum's navigation menu, or directly by going to https://proboards.com/help
Changing Theme
This Help Guide offers a light and dark theme for viewing. Click the theme icon in the upper-right corner to toggle between the themes. On smaller displays the icon is available under the menu icon in the upper-left corner.
Navigation
The Top Navigation Bar
The Help Guide is divided into sections which can be accessed with the tabs located at the top of the window. On smaller displays click the menu icon to access the sections. The current Help Guide sections are:
- User Guide - Articles for all users.
- Admin Panel - Articles for forum Admins, and forum staff who have access to the admin panel.
- Admin Handbook - Articles for forum administrators and best practices
- Themes - TBA
- Plugins - TBA
- v6 Beta - Articles regarding v6 beta testing.
The Left Sidebar
The panel on the left side of the window displays an index of the current section's contents. Click a topic to display the help article in the main window. On smaller displays click the menu icon to access the section's index.
Major categories within the index have an chevron icon that, when clicked, will show or hide that category's list of topics. Some categories may have sub-categories which are related articles grouped together.
On larger displays the sidebar can be collapsed. Click the double chevron icon at the bottom of the sidebar to collapse and the double chevron icon in the far-left middle of the page to reveal.
The Right Sidebar
The panel on the right side of the window is an index of the currently displayed article. Click an index item to quickly navigate to that section of the article. On smaller displays click the On this page
dropdown menu located at the top of the article.
Article Browsing
Use the navigation buttons located at the end of each Help Guide article to advance to the next article or view the previous article.
Annotations
Some articles contain annotations which provide additional information or further explanation through the use of Attention Blocks, Infotips, Reference Links, and Reveals.
Attention Blocks
Attention Blocks are used to emphasize information that should be noted.

Infotips
Infotips are inline references. They are linked words that offer additional clarifying text, such as the definition of a word. Infotips will not redirect you from the article. Hovering over the Infotip with a mouse (or a quick tap on touchscreen devices) displays the additional information in a text box above the word.
Reference Links
This Help Guide includes linked words as a reference for more information. A linked word will point to one of the following:
- A specific location within the same Help Guide article
- A different Help Guide article
- The Help Guide Glossary
- An external location (like the Official ProBoards Support Forum)
Reveals
A reveal is an information toggle block. A title or summary text is visible in the block. Click the reveal to expand the block and show more detailed information. Click the reveal again to collapse.

Click an expanded reveal to collapse.
Tabs
Modules within the page that divide content into meaningful sub-sections. While tabs are technically not an annotation, they are used to provide additional or alternate information.
