As the administrator of a forum, keeping discussion boards organized and up to date will sometimes require using the maintenance functions explained below. Deleting, moving, and reordering boards can all be accomplished using the links under the Boards section in the admin panel. Appropriate administrator permissions will be required.
This link will allow you to delete any board on the forum. Deleting a discussion board also deletes all threads, posts and sub-boards connected to that board. Once the content is deleted, it cannot be undone. Use this feature with caution.
Deleting a board: To delete a board, click the Delete Board link under the Boards section in the admin panel. Next, from the drop-down, select the category that contains the board you'd like to delete from the forum and click Continue. On the next page, select the name of the board that you would like to delete and click continue once more. You'll then be brought to the board deletion page; double check to make sure the board you're about to delete is the correct board. Now, click the Delete Board button at the bottom of the page to complete the action.
Deleting sub-boards: If you want to delete a sub-board from an online forum but leave the parent board intact, click the Delete Board link in the admin panel. Next, select the category the parent board resides in and click Continue. From the next drop-down, select the parent board containing the sub-board you want to delete and click Continue once more.
The deletion page is split into two parts: the top for Sub-Board deletion, the bottom to delete the parent board. If you only want to delete an existing sub-board, select the sub-board name from the drop-down and click the Continue button located directly below the drop-down menu. Next, double check that you're about to delete the sub-board that you are wanting to be removed from the forum, and then click Delete Board on the next page to complete the permanent removal of the sub-board.
This option allows you to move an existing board to a different category, or to re-assign it as a sub-board of another board. After clicking the Move Board link on the admin panel, you'll be presented with a drop-down menu listing the different boards and categories on the forum. Select the board you'd like to move and click Continue. On the next page, select the destination location from the drop-down and click Move Board to complete the action. Note; categories, indicated by the » symbol, are placeholders and cannot be moved.
Here you can reorder the boards displayed on the main page of the forum. First, click the Reorder Boards link in the admin panel. Next, select the category that hosts the boards that you would like to reorder from the drop-down and click Continue.
On the Reorder Boards page, boards are listed in the box by their Board ID. Reorder the board names as you would in a text document. Once you've arranged the names in their preferred order, click the Reorder Boards button to complete the process. You can then visit the main page of the forum to see the changes.
